'Detroit: Become Human' shown off in epic new gameplay trailer

Detroit: Become Human is yet another PlayStation 4 exclusive game that has been revealed at E3 this year. The game caused quite some waves when it was shown off at Sony's Paris Games Week last year, it is being developed by Quantic Dream, the same studio behind the ground-breaking thriller Heavy Rain, and Beyond: Two Souls for the PlayStation 3.

The intense gameplay footage shows off the city of Detroit where androids have replaced humans in almost every aspect of life. The particular footage emphasizes a hostage situation where an android is threatening a girl with a gun to her head on the edge of a rooftop. Another android named Connor is tasked with handling the situation.

The trailer showed off how things can go differently according to how you respond to situations with nearly ten outcomes being depicted for the same hostage scene, depending on how the player counters the scenario. The game will follow the choose-your-own-adventure style of narrative gameplay where each decision made by the player may impact how the game unfolds. Quantum Dream states:

Detroit is about playing the story. Through your actions and decisions you drive the story and face the consequences of your choices. You are in charge of the fate of these characters. You will become a “co-writer” who will have to make critical decisions that will impact the entire story and its world.

As you play as all of the characters, you’ll see the story from different perspectives. You will need to weigh each decision, as actions made by one character may have consequences on others. You will also need to avoid putting the characters at risk, because they can all die, and like in Heavy Rain, the story will continue without them.

Detroit: Become Human will be available as a PlayStation 4 exclusive, however, a release window is yet to be announced.
