DICE details upcoming content for Battlefield 1, new expansion info arriving at EA Play 2017

A score of new content for Battlefield 1 has been laid out by DICE in a new blog post, with the new features planned to come to fruition over the summer.

The developer's new monthly update schedule for the game means much faster content updates than before. In effect, with its Spring Update hitting just two weeks ago, the game's May Update will arrive soon, carrying playlists for the Operations game mode, as well as other improvements.

The game's first night-time map will soon be transitioning to the base game after undergoing weeks of testing in the Community Test Environment (CTE). Titled Nivelle Nights, and "located at the muddy battlefields around Malmaison and Soupir", Premium Pass owners will get access to the map sometime in June.

Meanwhile, a brand new map has arrived for the CTE, Prise de Tahure, which also features night time gameplay and bears a strong resemblance to another Battlefield 1 map, Amiens. Prise de Tahure's description provided in the blog post says:

Set in the autumn after the Nivelle Offensive, Prise de Tahure sees French troops desperately holding on to re-captured heights in the Butte-de-Tahure region. The frontline trench networks cut right through several villages facing obliteration from the constant skirmishing between German stormtroopers and French raiders. This is a war of attrition. Adaptability and tactics are the means to wear your adversary down.

Lastly, DICE announced that the game's upcoming In the Name of the Tsar expansion will be fully unveiled at EA Play 2017 during E3 week. The expansion will bring the Russian army to Battlefield 1 for the first time, similar to how the game's previous expansion, They Shall Not Pass, brought with it the French army. In the Name of the Tsar is scheduled to launch later this year, near the summer's end.
