Double-tap to wake firmware now available for some Lumia 650 models

You're finally going to be able to use double-tap to wake on your Microsoft Lumia 650. Windows Central reports that some users are finding the new firmware available through the Windows Device Recovery Tool.

It's obviously not available for everyone in all regions just yet (it never is). We weren't able to find an update for our test unit, but the version number should be 01078.00042.16352.50011, although we've spoken to someone who received the same firmware, but ending in 50006.

Beyond double-tap to wake, we don't know anything about what's included in the update. The Lumia 950 and 950 XL recently received the feature, but it's unlikely that the changelogs are the same. After all, firmware is tailored to the individual device.

Remember, grabbing this firmware through the Windows Device Recovery Tool will perform a factory reset on your device. If you don't need the feature too badly, you might want to wait until the OTA update is available. Sadly, we don't know when that will be, as the AT&T version of the Lumia 950 got double-tap to wake firmware through WDRT 10 days ago, but the OTA is still not available.

Have you received double-tap to wake on your Lumia 650? Let us know in the comments!
