Dying Light 2 has been delayed, no new release date in sight

Dying Light 2, the sequel to Techland's 2015 open world first-person survival horror action-adventure title was initially unveiled during Microsoft's Xbox Briefing at E3 in 2018. It then made an appearance at the Briefing in 2019, with a Spring 2020 release window in tow. Unfortunately, the game has now been delayed.

For those not familiar, Dying Light 2 is set to build upon the positive attributes of the original, adding more fluid movement, a richer narrative with meaningful choices - courtesy of Chris Avellone of Fallout 2 and Planescape Torment fame -, and provide an overall more polished experience. If you're intrigued by it, make sure to check out the most recent gameplay demo above, from August of last year.

Adding to the other recent high-profile delays like those for Crystal Dynamics' Marvel's Avengers, the Final Fantasy VII Remake, and CD Projekt RED's upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 RPG, the folks at Techland had this to say about the delay:

Unlike the other delayed titles, there's no mention of when Dying Light 2 could see the light of day, as the statement is rather open-ended. Due to the usage of "in the coming months", it would make the most sense to announce more details sometime around E3 in June, or possibly even earlier, at GDC in March.
