EA Access is finally coming to PlayStation 4, available this July

PlayStation 4 players will soon have EA games through a subscription service, as the publisher announced today that EA Access is finally heading to the Sony platform. EA has had its 'Access' programs running on both PC and Xbox One for years now, something that Sony had rejected back in 2014 for not providing "good value."

The monthly subscription program will open its doors to PlayStation 4 players this July, and prices are identical to its cousins on other platforms. Subscribing for a single month will cost $4.99, while opting for an annual subscription will cost $29.99.

Regarding the surprising move, Electronic Arts executive VP of strategic growth Matt Bilbey said in a press release:

“As we continue to invest in digital and subscription services, bringing great games to even more players across more platforms is an exciting opportunity for everyone. Our goal is to give players more choice to try and play our games wherever and however they choose, and we’re happy to bring EA Access to PlayStation 4.”

The main draw of EA Access is that it comes with a vault full of games accessible to all subscribers. It also gives players 10-hour trials of new EA titles, as well as a 10% discount when purchasing EA-published games, DLC, and other materials from the store.

It's unclear if the PlayStation 4's EA Access library will have the same games that the Xbox One version currently has, or if it will grow steadily from an initially small pool.
