Back in late 2016, Microsoft announced that "amazing" ID@Xbox games are heading to Game Preview on Windows 10 and Xbox One. Among these titles was Rockfish Games' Everspace - a futuristic shooter set in space with "AAA visuals" - which made its way to the aforementioned platforms back in September 2016.
Now, the game has finally exited the Game Preview program and its full release is now available on Windows 10 and Xbox One.
Version 1.0 of Everspace contains a number of major changes including a full-length campaign with cinematic and voiced cutscenes, and a new boss fight. Text localization has been made available for numerous languages including German, French, and Spanish.
Rockfish Games says that since Everspace's initial release, the company has made over 500 tweaks and fixes to the game, which includes the introduction of two player ships, a new alien faction, functional cockpit displays, and Colonial stations. For those unaware of the premise of the title, the Windows Store describes it as:
EVERSPACE™ is an action-focused single-player space shooter, combining roguelike elements with top-notch visuals and a captivating story. It takes you on a challenging journey through an ever-changing, beautifully crafted universe full of surprises. Your skills, experience, and talent for improvisation will be tested continuously as you piece together the puzzle of your existence through encounters with interesting characters, each having their own unique part of the story to tell. In each exciting run, you will face entirely new situations, ensuring countless hours of thrilling gameplay and generating myriad opportunities for individual, meaningful moments to experience. No matter how skilled you are, death is inevitable but is also only the beginning of a much larger journey.
Everspace currently sports a respectable 3.5/5 rating in the Microsoft Store and costs $29.99. The game packs Xbox Play Anywhere functionality, and you can check it out by hitting the download link below.
