Facebook is building a dedicated camera app to promote content creation and sharing

Facebook is synonymous with sharing and although the platform boasts over a billion users, there's currently a problem with how content is being created and shared. While an immediate solution to the problem might not be on the horizon, the company is looking for new ways for its users to create and share content.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Facebook is currently in the early stages of developing a camera app that will allow users to jump right into taking images, videos and livestreams. The app is akin to Snapchat, in that it will allow users to instantly transmit images and video to friends. However, one of the notable differences from Snapchat is in its ability to broadcast live to viewers.

The Wall Street Journal reached out to Facebook, but the company declined to comment in regards to the new app. Naturally, the app is currently still in the development, which means that it may never see the light of day.
