Fallout 76 beta dates announced, Xbox One players gain access a week early

Bethesda's upcoming multiplayer Fallout venture is still a couple of months away, but its highly anticipated beta - or B.E.T.A. as the studio likes to call it - will kick off in October. While it will be available on all platforms that the game is releasing on, Xbox One players will get a week of early access to nuke each other in the wasteland.

As revealed today, the beta will open up its vault doors to those with Xbox One consoles on October 23. Meanwhile PC and PlayStation 4 players will get to jump in a week later on October 30. There won't be an NDA in place for the beta as well, with everyone being allowed to share their Fallout experiences from the get-go.

Bethesda added that the Fallout 76 beta period is primarily meant to be a stress test, giving players access to the entire game. But, the servers will only be online for certain periods of time each day:

On any given day the game might be up for anywhere between four to eight hours. Focusing as many players as we can into these windows is our prime objective. Then we’ll fix what we need to fix and do it again and again from the start of B.E.T.A. until a few days before launch. We’ll give you as much heads up as possible because we need you to log in during these times and play the game.

Keep in mind that getting into the beta requires pre-ordering the title, and it doesn't seem like there will be an open beta. Moreover, just like the full game, the PC beta will be exclusive to the Bethesda.net Launcher. A helpful FAQ regarding the beta setup by the studio can be found here.

Fallout 76 is slated to release officially on November 14 for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
