Far Cry 5 season pass comes with a free copy of Far Cry 3 Classic Edition

Far Cry 5, like many other games in this day and age, will come with a season pass, which is used as a cheaper method to purchase all post-launch DLC in one go. However, Ubisoft has announced that will be including an entire extra game in this game's season pass, that being Far Cry 3, one of the most popular entries in the whole series.

As Far Cry 3 is not natively available on the latest generation of consoles (although it is backward compatible on Xbox One), Ubisoft will be releasing Far Cry 3 Classic Edition on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, four weeks before Far Cry 5's launch. This means that anyone who isn't keen on purchasing the new game's season pass just to witness Vaas' definition of insanity monologue, can opt to buy the standalone version instead.

The company did not say if the re-release will feature any enhancements, nor did it reveal the stand-alone version's pricing, but did say that the game will include the entire single-player experience.

Meanwhile, those who purchase the Far Cry 5 season pass on PC will receive the original full version of Far Cry 3 for free.

Hopping back to Far Cry 5's season pass contents, aside from the free game, it will also give access to three new bizarre storylines for players to take part in:

  • Hours of Darkness. Travel back in time to the Hours of Darkness, and battle guerilla Vietcong soldiers.
  • Dead Living Zombies. Face off against the undead hordes in Dead Living Zombies multiple B-movie scenarios.
  • Lost on Mars. Travel to the red planet and battle ferocious Martian arachnids.

Following the release date revision, Far Cry 5 is now slated to come out on March 27 on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, bringing additional enhancements for Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro owners.
