It simply isn't enough anymore just to work out and guess what the results are. Fitness and health wearables collect certain kinds of data but Fitbit's Aria 2 will complete the puzzle by giving users the ability to check the fine details when it comes to their bodies.
Fitbit's last foray into smart scales was in 2012 with the original Aria and has been long overdue for an overhaul. While the design remains similar, the firm is now touting that its smart scale is the most accurate on the market. Like its predecessor, the Aria 2 will give users the ability to sync data via Wi-Fi, instantly logging the results to the Fitbit app.
While Fitbit's other products can record fitness data, the Aria 2 will give users more insight when it comes to their bodies with precise numbers for body mass index (BMI), body fat percentage, weight, and more. By utilizing all of the acquired data, users should be able to gain a better grasp of how their body is reacting to their daily regimen.
Otherwise, according to a page from Fitbit's help forum cached by Google's search engine, the other key differences include:
- Bluetooth setup (rather than Wi-Fi on the original Aria)
- Compatibility with 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi networks (rather than 802.11b only)
- Using three AA batteries (instead of four)
The Aria 2 is currently available for pre-order on the Fitbit website for $129.95 and will arrive sometime in fall 2017.
