Following 1.0 release, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds hits 30 million players

The 1.0 update for PlayerUnknonwn's Battlegrounds, which was pushed out earlier today, is particularly significant for the game in many ways. For one, it brings with it a lot of the polish the game had sorely lacked in its time as an Early Access title. A new map, UI improvements and new mechanics are also welcome additions accompanying the update.

Facilitating the game's transition into an official release is certainly an impressive milestone for Update 1.0 but it's also allowed the game to hit a new high in terms of popularity. The game's developer, PUBG Corp. announced today that they had sold 30 million copies of the game across both PC and Xbox One.

This is made even more impressive considering the game had hit the 10 million players mark in early September and had just crossed 20 million players last month, adding an astounding 10 million more players in the month since.

If you're not yet one of those 30 million players and are looking to get a taste of the battle royale treatment for yourself, Microsoft is currently offering the game for free with every purchase of an Xbox One X, an enticing offer if you're in the mood for some holiday shopping. Don't forget to grab the latest PUBG-optimised drivers from Nvidia too, while you're at it.
