Ford is partnering with Walmart and Postmates to test out the business of delivering products like groceries and pet food by making use of self-driving cars. Ford is intensely dedicated to self-driving autos and it is working together with numerous associates to generate remedies which will depend upon cars that could travel on their own.

Director of Business Development at Ford’s Autonomous Vehicles department, Brian Wolf, wrote in a Medium post:

“We’re confident that working with Walmart will strengthen our effort to successfully deploy self-driving vehicles in a way that people actually want to experience."

The pilot project is centered on Miami-Date Country, based on Ford’s announcement on Wednesday. It is a region where Ford has already been inlaid and testing out just what a commercial self-driving car company may appear to be by way of an alliance with Postmates, Dominos, and local sellers.

Now, Ford is shifting to another stage which is grocery delivery. The company claims to be trying out various car varieties, in addition to modifications to those cars required to keep perishable food products clean and fresh. It will also test out an array of situations, like several deliveries on a single trip as well as the consumer experience if retrieving delivery products coming from a completely driverless car.

Swapping delivery van drivers with robotic systems could minimize last-mile delivery expenses. However, this technological innovation is still pricey and the sector is still awaiting policies which could help safeguard programmed vehicle owners or manufacturers from liability claims.
