Former NBA coach Phil Jackson shows up in new Asus Taichi TV spot

In October, Asus used Transformers co-star Megan Fox and her, em ... talents to help promote the launch of the Windows 8-based Aspire A7 touchscreen notebook in a TV ad campaign. Now Asus is using a different kind of celebrity, and a much more serious tone, to sell the dual screen Asus Taichi notebook.

The clip, which was uploaded to YouTube, is narrated by former NBA player and coach Phil Jackson as we see a number of young basketball players, with Jackson offering some rather solemn observations on playing the sport. The Asus Taichi is only seen for a few seconds in the one minute clip, including its touchscreen being used by a high school player to sign his commitment to a college. Jackson himself appears at the end of the ad.

A much shorter Asus Taichi promotional clip was uploaded to YouTube this week. It shows former NHL hockey player Phil Gilmore but this ad is much more lighthearted than the Phil Jackson commercial as Gilmore uses the Taichi to not only do some work but also to chat with his kids with a Skype video call. We will leave it to you to determine which of these two ads was more effective in getting their point across.
