Fortnite's new season is finally here, continuing the story from this week's end-of-season event called The Device. Chapter 2 Season 3 leaves players on a partially flooded island, giving them a plethora of new things to try, which include fighting computer-controlled marauders, induction of ridable sharks, and exploration of new areas that have "adapted to the flooded way of life."
For avid players, there isn't much change in the map and points of interest. Epic has significantly raised the water level on the island. Some areas are now completely underwater, which prominently includes The Grotto. However, the firm states that these changes will be for a limited time, and water levels will recede "as time goes on."
More locations will be uncovered as roadways become more open, the company said. It is also promising "new ways to get around," and the trailer shows that cars are set to join boats and helicopters as main modes of transport on the island. Moreover, players can rotate out of areas with the help of whirlpools that have been placed all over the map.
This season's Battle Pass features Aquaman, the popular DC character. Players can unlock new drifter skins, spacesuits, and Kit. In terms of new weapons, shotguns, drum guns, and burst weapons have been introduced. Some fan-favorite items like the Hunting Rifle, Chug Jugs, and Chug Splashes have returned, giving players plenty of new options when they drop into the new map.
