Four Sniper Elite projects in development, including a new entry and a remaster

The studio behind the Sniper Elite franchise of stealth shooter games, Rebellion, announced today that it is working on multiple new projects for the series, ranging from a VR title and a remaster to an entirely new game.

Up first is a remaster for Sniper Elite V2 from 2012, which itself was a remake of the original Sniper Elite from 2005. The remaster will feature enhanced visuals, new playable characters, a photo mode, and also an expanded multiplayer offering that boosts the total player number to 16. 4K resolution and HDR on supported devices were also confirmed, and the game will come with all of the DLC content that released for it.

Sniper Elite V2 Remastered is slated to launch in 2019 for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and for the first time, Nintendo Switch. Its brand new trailer is seen below.

Meanwhile, also releasing this year is Sniper Elite 3 Ultimate Edition, but only for the Nintendo Switch. This release comes with motion controls and local wireless multiplayer support, along with all of the post-launch content that arrived for the title. Check out its reveal trailer down below.

With the announcements carrying trailers out of the way, Rebellion also revealed that it is tackling the virtual reality space with Sniper Elite. The studio is working with Just Add Water for this standalone VR title. It said that it is "aiming to create the best VR sniping experience possible" and that more details will be revealed later this year.

And finally, Rebellion confirmed that a full sequel to the most recent entry to the series, Sniper Elite 4, is now being worked on. It was revealed that the game is currently in very early stages of development, so the studio is keeping its cards close to its chest until at least 2020.
