The Galaxy S20 series from Samsung comes with 120Hz QHD+ resolution displays. However, due to battery life concerns, Samsung has limited the 120Hz refresh rate to only FHD+ resolution. A higher resolution will drop the display refresh rate to 60Hz.
Out of the box, the Galaxy S20 series will ship with FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. But users will have the option of going into display settings and bumping the display resolution to QHD+, though the refresh rate will drop down to 60Hz.
Samsung was widely panned for this move as this will not allow Galaxy S20 owners to enjoy the best of both worlds -- a high-resolution display with a high refresh rate. There are quite a few other smartphones with 120Hz displays and none of them pull this trickery.
Now, it looks like Samsung is paying heed to all that feedback. The company is reportedly working on optimizing its software for 120Hz WQHD+ resolution. While the plans are not yet finalized, if everything goes well, Samsung should enable this option on the Galaxy S20 with a software update over the next 1-3 months.

Most users are unlikely to care much about the ability to run their Galaxy S20's display at QHD+ resolution with 120Hz refresh rate. Power users, however, are going to be happy. However, there is a high probability that the combination of the 120Hz refresh rate and QHD+ resolution will severely impact battery life.
