Gaming news round up: August 22-28

PAX Prime, the west coast version of the Penny Arcade Expo, was held this past weekend in Seattle. Game developers and publishers used the event as a way to reveal new game titles and make new announcements of existing games. Here's a round-up of just some of the game reveals:

  • The third episode of Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rainslick Precipice of Darkness is now back in development with Zeboyd Games as its new developer.
  • Uber Entertainment has announced Super Monday Night Combat, a free-to-play sequel to its 2010 PC-Xbox 360 multiplayer action game Monday Night Combat. It will be released for the PC early in 2012.
  • Paradox Interactive has announced Warlock: Master of the Arcane, an upcoming fantasy turn-based strategy game.
  • Telltale Games has announced that its episodic action game based on the Jurassic Park movie franchise will release its first episode on November 15 for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
  • The upcoming action-RPG Crimson Alliance, due out for Xbox Live Arcade September 7, will cost 1200 Microsoft points but will only cost 800 Microsoft points if you just want to play as one of the game's three character classes.
  • Square Enix has announced it is creating a new game graphics engine, Luminous, that will support DirectX 11 and will be made for games for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 platforms.
  • Microsoft has announced that the first two DLC packs for The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim will be released first for the Xbox 360, 30 days ahead of their release for the PC and PS3.
  • Torchlight 2, the upcoming sequel to Runic Games' 2009 action-RPG, will be priced at $20 when it is released later in 2011.
  • Blizzard has launched a new official community site for its upcoming and long awaited action-RPG sequel Diablo III.
