Back in October, Garmin launched the Garmin Speak with Amazon Alexa for $149.99. The firm is now accepting pre-orders for the higher-tier Garmin Speak Plus with Amazon Alexa for $229.99, the only hardware-specific difference is the built-in dash cam that's in the Plus model; this allowed Garmin to add several new bits of functionality not seen in the Garmin Speak.
Both devices are exactly the same in terms of their dimensions, the only difference is that the Plus model is slightly weightier due to the camera. It has a field of view of 82 degrees and can alert the driver to forward collisions, lane departures and also features an “incident” detector. The built-in camera also means the device can give you a Go alert when it is safe to proceed along the road.
The device comes with a microSD card included; it requires Class 10 microSD cards with a minimum of 4GB space and a maximum of 64GB. The Garmin Speak Plus is also perfect for those of you who want to capture a freak event on the road and upload the footage to YouTube; the camera will automatically record all driving footage when you’re out and about to better your chances of becoming an online sensation.
Of course, the device comes with Alexa and Garmin Navigation just like the other model, which means you'll be able to get directions, lane guidance, hands-free calling, music, and news via Alexa and much, much more. Pre-orders are open now and the product is actually on a discount, down to $199.99 for the time being. Any orders you make will ship out in the middle of February.
