Google Assistant currently requires users to say the hotword "Hey Google" first for any type of task they want the digital assistant to perform. For urgent tasks like picking up a call, this can take a bit of your time before being able to finally answer someone.
However, a new Assistant feature codenamed “Guacamole” could make things quicker for more time-sensitive tasks. The folks over at Android Police received tip about the feature's description that appeared in the Assistant settings page for some users. When you opt in to the feature, you can perform certain tasks that don't require the hotword.
Apparently, the goal is to let you skip that part where you need to say "Hey Google" before you can stop an alarm, for example. It's designed to help you complete quick tasks immediately, as per the settings page. It also applies to managing your timers and calls, 9to5Google reported. That said, the option does not seem to be live for everyone just yet and Google might be waiting until its I/O event next month before unveiling the feature.
For now, Guacamole is available to some who are using version 12.15.9.29 of Google's app on smartphones running Android 11. Google started working on Guacamole in early March.
