Google Drive is being enhanced with new business-friendly features

Google is looking to entice businesses into embracing its cloud services with new features announced today. These enhancements are enterprise-oriented and will be available to G Suite Business, Education, and Enterprise customers.

At the top of the list is Team Drives, which is a shared cloud folder employees can store files in. While this isn't a new feature on its own, Team Drives allows for more control over sharing permissions. In addition, files stored on a Team Drive remain even if a team member leaves.

Google Vault is also seeing an update. Administrators are now able to secure and manage files both with individual employee Drives as well as Team Drives. Google has also acquired App Bridge, a service that helps companies move to Google Drive from whatever other cloud services they are currently using.

Also on the list but unfortunately still in Google's Early Adopter Program is Drive File Stream. Drive File Stream allows users to stream files onto their computer without actually downloading them. In addition, your most used files will intelligently become available in the background.

Finally, Quick Access now works with Team Drives on iOS, Android and will also make its way to the web. Quick Access attempts to intelligently predict what file you're looking for based on how and who those files are often shared with, when relevant meetings occur and what files are used at specific times during the day.
