Google Home learns a new trick, can now broadcast messages

A little over a year ago, Google launched its sole smart speaker to market. Since that time, the firm has expanded, not only making it available in more countries but also expanding its offerings with the Home Mini and Home Max. Now, it looks like their software is getting an update, which has also added a new feature that might make communicating a bit easier.

The latest update to the Google Assistant will allow users to relay messages from a smartphone to numerous Google Home speakers. To use this new feature, users will need to say the usual, "Ok Google" but follow up with "broadcast..." along with one of the close to thirty supported phrases. This should be handy for any families or an office with multiple speakers, as it would surely be more civilized and easier on the vocal cords than yelling across a large space.

For now, the new command will activate all connected speakers that are associated with the Google Assistant account. But, hopefully, sometime in the future, there will be a way to direct each broadcast to individual or groups of speakers.
