If you're running the Android 12 Developer Preview, it's once again time to check for updates, as Google released Developer Preview 2.2 today. While it's not uncommon for the Mountain View firm to release updates in-between major build releases, it rarely happens twice. Indeed, this is the second update since Developer Preview 2 was released on March 17.
There are a few things that are new here. First of all, there are a bunch of fixes, a lot more than the single one listed for Developer Preview 2.1. Here's the changelog:
- Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the Settings app to crash when a user tried to access Bluetooth settings. (Issue #180962266)
- Fixed an issue that caused widgets to be removed from the home screen after a user installed an OTA update.
- Fixed an issue that caused notifications to be sent about low Bluetooth call quality even when call quality was currently unaffected.
- Fixed an issue that caused WiFi network passwords to not be saved in some cases.
- Fixed an issue that caused the notification shade to be activated when typing on the on-screen keyboard.
- Fixed an issue with Codec 2.0 that could cause apps to crash on some devices.
- Fixed an issue that could cause videos to be encoded incorrectly when shared.
Also, it's going to bring your device to the April version of the Android Pixel Security Update. This is the update that, at least when delivered alone, offered some major performance boosts for Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 owners. It will be interesting to see if the Android 12 Developer Preview bundle does the same.
