Google Wifi now available for pre-order for $129, 3-pack priced at $299

Google announced its Wi-Fi router at an event this past October alongside its Pixel and Daydream devices. Now, Google's $129 Wi-Fi system is available for pre-order on the Google Store. The device promises reliable room-to-room Wi-Fi connectivity and improved network device management among other features.

Key specs include AC1200 2x2 Wave 2 connectivity, support for the WPA2-PSK security protocol, and 802.11a/b/g/n/ac compatibility. Google Wifi also makes use of beamforming and mesh network technologies to ensure better network coverage. On its blog, Google explained:

“Within our mesh network, each Google Wifi point creates a high-powered connection, and the different points work together to determine the best path for your data.”

Hardware-wise, Google Wifi is made of a white plastic material and includes two Ethernet ports and a quad-core ARM processor. A 15W power adapter and a 6.5 foot Ethernet cable are the only in-box accessories.

Google Wifi can be purchased in a single pack (providing up to 1,500 feet of coverage) for $129 or in a three-pack for $299 (providing up to 4,500 square feet of coverage). The device will soon be available at the Google Store, Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart.
