'Grand Theft Auto' publisher plays it safe

Take Two Interactive Software, a game publisher with such portfolio entries as "Manhunt," "State of Emergency," and the massively popular "Grand Theft Auto" series, has decided to cancel development on another controversal game, "Snow." The game, shown off at 2005's E3, was a real-time strategy which involved your progression from a simple marijuana smuggler to an international drug kingpin. In addition, there has been little to no news on the status of the development of "Bully," a game that supposedly centered around a bullied kid seeking revenge.

Under constant scrutiny by the gaming industry's ratings board -- and not to mention disappointed investors -- ever since the Hot Coffee "scandal," it is no wonder that Take Two has been treading water just a little more carefully these days.
