Halo: Reach finally received a release date for PC and Xbox One recently after months of Insider flights, and is coming to the new platforms under the Halo: The Master Chief Collection on December 3. However, that was only the beginning for the PC collection, and 343 Industries is already planning Insider tests for Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary edition.
A PC version of Halo: Combat Evolved already exists, the original from 2003, but the Anniversary edition remake that launched for Xbox 360 and Xbox One never reached the PC platform.
Speaking to PCGamesN, 343 Industries community director Brian Jarrard has confirmed that PC Insider tests will begin rolling out for the Anniversary remake early next year, saying "once Reach comes out next month, after the holiday, we will start to reset, and we’ll start to flight Halo CE."
Just like the Halo: Reach PC version, this new release of Halo: Combat Evolved will come with PC specific enhancements like 4K support and "things like uncapped frame rates, an FOV slider, and support for different aspect ratios."
"It's been more challenging than we initially thought, and it's taken longer than we expected," added Jarrard. "But it is important that we don’t cut corners."
Halo: The Master Chief Collection for PC is now available for pre-purchase on the Microsoft Store and Steam with a $39.99 price tag. The individual games will also be available to purchase separately for $9.99 each once they are closer to release, just like Halo: Reach is now. Moreover, Xbox Game Pass for PC subscribers are being given day-one access at launch, as expected.
