HP refreshes its Spectre x360 with a smaller footprint, 4K OLED, Ice Lake, and more

Today, HP announced this year's refresh of its Spectre x360 13 convertible PC. It contains a whole bunch of changes and improvements, such as a smaller footprint. You'll notice from the image above that the top and bottom bezels have been shrunken down. HP used to have a massive chin on its Spectre x360, along with a large top bezel, and the company would boast about how it still has the webcam on top while Dell puts it on the bottom.

But Dell shrunk down its webcam to fit it in a narrow top bezel, and now so has HP. The company took it a step further though, also fitting an IR camera in there, so you're not sacrificing Windows Hello facial recognition for a smaller bezel.

But that's not all. Back at CES, HP announced a new model of the Spectre x360 15 with a 4K OLED display; now, that option is coming to the 13-inch model. With the 4K OLED screen, you'll get true blacks and more vibrant colors. HP is also including color profiles, so you'll be able to easily adjust the screen depending on what you're working on. The goal is for it to be more accurate, at least when you want it to be, rather than oversaturated, as OLED screens tend to be.

If OLED isn't your thing and you're more interested in privacy, you can get it with an FHD Sure View Gen3 display. This is meant to prevent people from peeking over your shoulder and seeing what you're looking at.

The processor selection is from the Intel Ice Lake family, the new 10nm chips with Iris Plus graphics. Options go up to the 15W Core i7-1065G7. The new Spectre x360 13 is coming in October, starting at $1,099.99.
