HP has announced a new desktop computer today that puts the traditional input methods aside and brings forward a new experience. Using a projector and overhead cameras, HP has turned your desk into a touch environment that is fully interactive.
The overhead projector puts content right in front of you and with a touch sensitive mat, allows you to interact with content in a new way. This is a new type of experience for most users as touch-based products typically require you to work directly on the display. With the Sprout, you get a second window to interact with the content and it looks quite interesting.
This is not a prototype either, HP is selling this machine right now with prices starting at $1899. For that price you will get a machine with an Intel® Core™ i7-4790S with Intel HD Graphics 4600 and NVIDIA GeForce GT 745A, a 23in 1920x1080 display, 8GB of DDR RAM, 1 TB SATA drive with a 6GB SSD capacity for storage, and a plethora of I/O ports as well.

It's clear that HP is stepping out of the box with this machine and is moving into a new user experience but that's exactly what the company needs to do to make sure it has a market differentiator in its portfolio. HP said that this will be a limited roll-out into retail stores with select Microsoft and Best Buy locations getting the machines but there are no specifics on which locations will have demos on display.
