HTC's Desire 530 just regenerated into the Desire 555, and is exclusive to Cricket Wireless

Today, HTC announced the Desire 555, it's new entry-level handset that's exclusive to Cricket Wireless. The phone is very similar to those that we've already seen from the company, such as the Desire 530 and 626.

In the device's third iteration, the RAM has seen a modest bump from 1.5GB to 2GB, but pretty much everything else about the specs is the same. It includes a 1.1GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 chipset, a 5-inch 720p display, and 8MP rear camera, and a 5MP front camera. The device will also ship with an updated version of the Sense and the Android OS, specifically 7.0 Nougat.

Interestingly, HTC said in February that it's going to stop making budget phones altogether this year, as it's been some time since the company turned a profit. Obviously, it's not ready to stop chasing the entry-level crowd just yet.

If you want to check out the HTC Desire 555 from Cricket Wireless, you can find it here for $119.99. The carrier is also still selling the Desire 626s for $69.99, which has less RAM, a lower resolution front camera, and Android 5.1 Lollipop.
