Huawei is releasing a dual-boot Windows Phone and Android device aimed to takeover the U.S. market

At CES 2014, Huawei made it clear that it wanted to transition from being an ODM to an OEM company in 2014. Huawei has long produced devices for other companies and has grown to become the third largest handset manufacturer in the world. Although Huawei is primarily known for manufacturing Android devices, Huawei is looking to shake things up by releasing a handset that will dual-boot Windows Phone and Android.

Huawei has taken a unique approach in releasing a Windows Phones handset by dual-booting it with an upcoming Android handset. Shao Yang, Huawei's CMO has gone on record to state that while Huawei will back Windows Phone, but it will come at a lower priority than Android. Yang expands on Huawei's dual-boot strategy by stating that this could provide larger appeal to consumers who are on the fence about Windows Phone. By giving the consumers an option, it will give the client a choice of which operating system to use depending on preference. While this handset will launch in the U.S. in Q2, carriers and pricing were not announced making it likely that this handset will be sold directly via Huawei's website.

While it remains to be seen how the U.S. market will embrace this handset it will certainly be one of the more unique options this year.
