In February, Microsoft launched the final version of Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7 PCs, joining the previous version that is included with Windows 8 and RT. Today, new data from Net Applications suggested that IE10 is gaining more acceptance from PC users.
The latest numbers from April 2013 shows that IE10 was used by 6.02 percent of browser users, compared to 2.93 percent in March 2013 and 1.57 percent in February. IE8 is still the most used browser version worldwide with 23.08 percent in April, down from 23.23 percent in March. IE9 was second with 18.17 percent in April, compared to 20.62 percent of the browser market share in March.
In terms of overall web browsers, regardless of their version number, Net Applications says that Internet Explorer had 55.81 percent in April,, down very slightly from 55.83 percent in March. Mozilla's Firefox was number two in April with 20.30 percent in April, up compared to March with 20.21 percent.
Google's Chrome web browser held 16.35 percent of the total browser market in April, compared to 16.45 percent in March. Net Applications's numbers show that Apple's Safari web browser is still holding onto a 5.38 percent in April, while Opera brings up the rear with 1.73 percent for the last month.
