Insomniac's Spider-Man gets a behind-the-scenes video, game inspired by Ultimate Spider-Man

The PlayStation 4 exclusive Spider-Man game was announced back in 2016, with a full reveal finally surfacing last month at E3, giving the first proper look at the game. Today, at Disney's D23 Expo, the company gave fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the game, including concept art as well as developer interviews. The full video can be seen above.

During the event, the developer said that the game is inspired by the Ultimate Spider-Man comic book series, and will feature an original story set apart from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The game will feature a 23-year-old Peter Parker, who took the role of the web slinger eight years ago. The developer describes this incarnation of Spidey as "an athlete at the prime of his career", with a great deal of experience with his powers, and self-made gadgets.

On the flip side, with Spider-Man being such a well-known entity in this universe, criminals also have a good grasp on what he can accomplish, providing players with plenty of challenging encounters.

On stage, the developer teased that the game will include a wide variety of villains to tackle, and noted that the web-slinging has already received improvements, taking cues from fan feedback collected after last month's E3 reveal.

The Insomniac Games-developed, Marvel's Spider-Man is slated to launch sometime in 2018, arriving exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
