Instagram releases 'Type' mode for Stories

A few weeks ago, we reported that Instagram is working on a new feature—called 'Type'—that allows users to create text-based stories and share them online. The feature was only available in a few regions, but today, Instagram announced that it is now rolling out to everyone in the latest update for the app.

Type differs from other modes available within; absolutely no photos or images are required to use it. Users are given a wide range of new fonts and visual effects to play around with:

The feature appears to be great for those who want to post quick thoughts that don't need any media to go with it. Instagram also notes that "You can also use the new styles when adding text to any photo or video."

After just releasing 'GIF Stickers' a few weeks ago, Instagram is working hard to make Stories as good as possible. The company has had a lot of success since its release so this is no surprise.

Expect the update to land on your device soon; otherwise, you can download Instagram for Android and iOS.
