Insurgency is free to claim on Steam for the next two days

Another giveaway has begun on Steam, and New World Interactive's 2014 indie shooter Insurgency is the game on the spotlight this time. The freebie promotion arrives as a way to get more eyes on the developer's upcoming sequel, Insurgency: Sandstorm.

Although there isn't a story campaign component to the game, single-player or otherwise, the tactical shooter features various head to head multiplayer as well as cooperative game modes supporting up to 32 players. For those wanting to give it a try, be prepared for a hardcore experience with minimal HUD elements and many instances where a single bullet can mean death.

The game is now available to claim for free via its Steam store page, and it is playable on Windows, macOS, and Linux. The giveaway will run until 10:00am PDT on August 15.

Moreover, as an added benefit, those who own Insurgency receive an additional 10% discount for the aforementioned sequel, Insurgency: Sandstorm, that is slated to launch in just over a month's time. This lowers the game's pre-order price to $23.99, a handy bonus for those looking to jump in.
