At The Game Awards 2021 event yesterday, Intel decided to show off gameplay taken on its upcoming first-gen Intel ARC discrete GPUs dubbed "Alchemist". The video (embedded below) was uploaded to YouTube at 1440p resolution and shows tidbits of gameplay of some games. It also highlights some of the features Alchemist GPUs would be packing. Intel also reiterates that these GPUs would be available in Q1 of next year so it is likely that we will see more from Alchemist at CES 2022.
Aside from that, the image above also seems to reveal more details that may be revealing more about Alchemist.
First, from the looks of it, it seems like the Alchemist GPU inside the Intel ARC-branded case features an 8-pin power connector.
There are also sensors inside showing the CPU and GPU temperatures. The CPU operating temperature is being read as 69°C while the GPU is running at 10 degrees higher at 79°C. There are also three other sensors reading the fan rotation speeds but that shouldn't mean much. The case also features Intel's 670p SSD making the system all-Intel.
However, bear in mind that the render above could be showing completely random numbers and objects, and isn't meant to be taken as exact. The numbers put up by Intel could also be intentionally misleading.
Now moving over to the games, the following titles were shown off:
However, no framerate numbers or resolution and settings details were shared. On top of the gameplay visuals, Intel reminds viewers of the features that Alchemist would sport:
- AI-enhanced upscaling
- Next-gen graphics with ray tracing
- Accelerated game streaming
While we aren't sure, "Accelerated game streaming" could be indicating that Intel will also have some solution similar to AMD's ReLive and Nvidia's ShadowPlay. Or it could be something more.
