Intel demos NFC on the ultrabook [Video]

Intel is taking ultrabooks to the next level and as it moves down that path, it is putting everything it can think of in to this next form factor. One of the more interesting additions is the decision to include NFC.

As you can see in the video, Intel paired up with MasterCard to use NFC when paying for items online. The idea is simple, you can link your credit card to your PC and then to pay for items online; simply tap your card over the trackpad and it will process your payment. By doing this, you never have to manually enter in your information online and it provides another barrier or protection against online fraud.

For those who are curious about security of the application, a credit card can only be used in this way if the card is registered to the PC. Likewise, the PC can not make a payment without the card being being present.

Will this feature make it in to all ultrabooks down the road, that question has yet to be answered. But, Intel made a promising pitch for ultra books and the future definitely looks thin, but in this case, that is a good thing.
