There's good news today for owners of Microsoft's flagship Windows 10 devices, as a set of new drivers is now available for them.
As Windows Central noted, three Intel driver updates began rolling out yesterday for the Surface Book and Surface Pro 4:
- Intel driver update for Intel Xeon E3 - 1200/1500 v5 6th Gen Intel Core Gaussian Mixture Model - 1911
- Intel driver update for Intel 100 Series Chipset Family SMBUS - 9D23
- Intel driver update for Intel 100 Series Chipset Family PMC - 9D21
Two of these driver updates are related to power management on the devices. Both the Surface Book and Pro 4 were plagued with problems on that front as soon as they launched, including a particularly frustrating issue that prevented them from properly entering a 'sleep' state, resulting in significant power drain when not in use. Many owners have reported that these and other issues have since been resolved thanks to updates in recent months, although some continue to experience related problems.
We'll have to wait and see if the latest updates finally fix those remaining power management issues for everyone. For now, you can grab the new drivers on your Surface Book or Pro 4 via Windows Update.

Update: As Neowin member +Circaflex pointed out to us, Microsoft has said on its Community support site that these latest updates aren't actually new at all:
On 4/14/2016 we made a change to how updates are delivered to Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book. There are no changes introduced with these 3 driver updates, they are the same version of the drivers that were previously installed. The 3 updates you are seeing just have a different name in the Windows Update service.
However, Microsoft's explanation raises the question of why Windows Update would present these three drivers as new updates to be installed, when "they are the same version of the drivers that were previously installed."
