The iPhone SE has been a fan-favorite among many due to the phone's commendable performance and palatable size that distinguished it from the rest of the offerings by smartphone manufacturers including Apple itself. Unsurprisingly, people have now been looking forward to an updated version of the phone, considering it's been three years since the device first hit store shelves.
Now, according to a new report (in Chinese) by the well-reputed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone SE 2 might see the light of day as soon as the first quarter of 2020. The phone might be housed in a chassis similar to the iPhone 8 and borrow an identical camera setup from it as well. This is in direct corroboration with the reports from earlier this week by the same analyst. However, the latest reports build on the previous ones and tease a big round of new hardware that Apple might release at the start of next year.
Alongside the launch of the iPhone SE 2, Apple will reportedly update its iPad Pro lineup as well. Kuo claimed that the new devices will have a rear-facing 3D time-of-flight sensor, which is reminiscent of the TrueDepth camera system on the iPhone and iPad, to improve the apps employing augmented-reality.
Similarly, news of Apple working on an augmented-reality headset or augmented-reality glasses has been floating around for months now. According to Kuo, we might finally see the tech in the second quarter of 2020 after Apple will seemingly collaborate with 'third-party brands' on it. However, the exact design of the device is a mystery for now. Weirdly, the Google translated version of the website dubs it as an 'AR helmet'. But that might be courtesy of the translation, perhaps not the direction Apple is actually going for.
And lastly, an update to the MacBook might be on the horizon in the second quarter of 2020 as well. As per the same report, the updated lineup might have a 'scissor-switch keys' mechanism/design for its keyboard. Perhaps Apple will finally get the keyboards right in this iteration.
