It looks like Alcatel's IDOL 4S with Windows 10 may be coming to more markets

Alcatel's IDOL 4S with Windows 10 was one of the worst kept secrets of 2016, with numerous leaks and rumors prior to its eventual launch. But when the Snapdragon 820-powered device finally showed up, it turned out that it's a T-Mobile exclusive in the United States.

Earlier this week, the Windows Device Recovery Tool was updated to support the device, but two variants appeared: the T-Mobile-locked model that we know about, and an 'Open Market' variant. Today, the company's France Twitter account sent out a message that the device would, in fact, be coming to European markets (via WindowsBlogItalia):

When the WDRT was updated on Monday, we reached out to Alcatel to confirm that there would be an unlocked model coming, but the company didn't respond. It certainly seems likely though that there will at least be some sort of international variant, even if it's locked to European carriers.

If you're thinking of purchasing the IDOL 4S with Windows 10, be sure to check out our review. We found it to be a wonderful Windows phone, although it had some shortcomings in the camera department.
