Left 4 Dead 2's "The Passing" DLC coming this week

Last Friday, Kotaku spotted a blog post made on the official Left 4 Dead blog, where Valve finally announced the availability of the upcoming Left 4 Dead 2 DLC pack "The Passing." The blog post reads,

"Well... if it was coming out next week we would say right here - Left 4 Dead 2's The Passing is coming out next week and we will be updating the blog next week with more news on the release. There you go."

It has been four months since Valve first announced details of the first DLC pack for Left 4 Dead 2. In February, Valve released more details, including an anticipated release date of late March, a comic book that is to accompany the DLC's release, and finally a new campaign for the original Left 4 Dead which provides some backstory to The Passing.

The DLC pack will add in a campaign that fits in-between the "Dead Center" and "Dark Carnival" campaigns in the Left 4 Dead 2 story arc. The original four survivors from the original Left 4 Dead will make a much anticipated cameo in The Passing, although one survivor will be already dead following the events of the first game - from the screenshot shown above (thanks MiniMeSorinel!) you can faintly see Zoey in the background, so it's most likely not her. In addition, there will be new maps for the Survival, Scavenge, and Versus game modes, as well as a new co-op game mode.

As is customary of Valve, this DLC pack will be free for the PC version of Left 4 Dead 2. Similar to the Crash Course DLC for the original Left 4 Dead, Xbox 360 gamers will have to shell out 560 Microsoft Points for the pack.
