Lenovo Legion Y530 unboxing: Casual gaming looks pretty sweet

Announced less than a month ago, Lenovo's new Legion gaming PCs have an all-new design from last year. This year's models are meant to have a much cleaner design, so you can play with them at home, and take them to work without having such a flashy design that you'd see on other gaming laptops.

Lenovo sent me the Legion Y530, which is the entry-level model that comes with an Intel Core i5-8300H CPU and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050Ti GPU with 4GB GDDR5. There will be higher end models coming later on this year that will feature Nvidia's GTX 11xx graphics cards, but there's no date on those. But again, this is aimed at the casual gaming market.

One of the key things that changed about this year's models is that the ports have been moved to the rear of the machine. There's still a USB 3.1 Type-A port on both the left and the right side, along with a 3.5mm audio jack on the left, but everything else is on the back. This includes another Type-A port, a USB 3.0 Type-C port, Ethernet, Mini DisplayPort 1.4, and HDMI 2.0.

Another thing that's different about the design is that the bezels around the 15.6-inch display are smaller; in fact, they're 62% more narrow than last year.
