Lumia 800 shows up on FCC's web site

The Lumia 800 has been on sale in Europe for several weeks now but there's still no word on when the flagship smartphone in Nokia's new Windows Phone-based brand will be sold in the US. Now it looks like the phone is one step closer to making its American debut. News.com reports that the smartphone has gotten the official filing confirmation from the Federal Communications Commission.

That usually means that an official launch announcement for the phone is getting very close. It's more than likely that Nokia will use its CES 2012 press conference in early January to reveal the US launch date for the Lumia 800, along with its wireless carrier or carriers. AT&T has been rumored to be the official US carrier for the Lumia 800 but that has yet to be confirmed by either Nokia or AT&T.

The less expensive sister phone to the Lumia 800, the Lumia 710, is already confirmed to be heading to the US on January 11 via T-Mobile for the price of just $49.99. There are persistent rumors that Nokia might also announce a Lumia 900 smartphone at CES next month with a larger screen than the Lumia 800.
