Mario and Rabbids join forces for Ubisoft's upcoming Nintendo Switch title

At its E3 briefing today, Ubisoft has revealed its upcoming Switch title in a surprise announcement. In cooperation with Nintendo, the company's latest game for the hybrid console will see Rabbids and Mario joining forces in Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle.

From the gameplay trailer shown off at Ubisoft's event, the mechanics of the title seem very similar to the strategic combat of the XCOM franchise. Players will be able to take down their opponents in colorful environments using cartoonish guns. Similar to XCOM, Ubisoft's title will see players taking advantage of their settings and using strategy to defeat enemies in turn-based combat.

Players will also be able to utilize special abilities. Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle boasts several iconic characters from Ubisoft's and Nintendo's franchises including, Mario, Princess Peach, Luigi, Yoshi, and the Rabbids. You can check out the trailer below:

According to the game's developers, the title took over three years to develop. However, story details - if any - have not been revealed as of yet. Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle will be making its way to the Nintendo Switch on August 29, 2017.
