Massive growth for VMware in 2008

VMware, Inc. has recently posted details of their fourth quarter and full year revenue and growth statistics for 2008.

The company, known for it's virtualization software, has managed a massive annual growth rate of 42%, with $1.9 billion revenue. Revenue for the fourth quarter alone was a huge $515 million, a 25% growth rate from their 2007 fourth quarter revenue.

This impressive feat has been managed despite today's economy woes. Paul Maritz, president and chief executive officer of VMware has stated "Customers continue to make VMware a strategic priority because our solutions – used by more than 130,000 customers – help reduce capital and operational costs". He also believes that "VMware is well-prepared for the opportunities and challenges ahead."

For the first quarter of 2009, VMware is aiming for total revenues of approximately $475 million.
