Every US PC that comes with Microsoft Media Center Edition will also ship with an Nvidia graphics processor, an audience of system integrators was told on Friday. That's a significant win for Nvidia and suggests its relationship with Microsoft is better than it was. Nvidia's European sales manager, Roy Taylor, speaking at the System Builder Summit in Monaco, hailed the Media Center win as a breakthrough.
But although he demonstrated NV35 and also showed a demo of Vulcan running on that platform, there was no mention whatever of the Xbox console. Vulcan, with hair flaming away, was a Roman god and in the Nvidia demo was wielding two Hammers, so we suspect this is an abstruse and classical reference to its long-time partner Advanced Micro Devices.
