Microsoft announce Gears of War 3 beta and New WP 7 games/updates

Microsoft has announced a number of new Xbox 360 and Windows Phone 7 titles that are on the way throughout spring and into 2011.

In the press released emailed to Neowin today, Microsoft also announced that the Gears of War 3 public multiplayer beta will launch in mid-April, quite a few months before the full worldwide launch of the game on 20 September.

The company also announced that upcoming title “The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile” will support full 3D when it is launched on Xbox LIVE Arcade later in the year. Even better news for 3D fans is that Crysis 2 will also launch in 3D on the Xbox when the game is released on March 22 in America and on the 25th in the UK.

A number of new Windows Phone 7 games were also announced today, with Angry Birds landing on April 6, and Plant vs Zombies from PopCap being the big names. In addition to this, Hydro Thunder Go and Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 will be made available too. Fable Coin Golf will also be released in March exclusively for the mobile OS, allowing you to transfer gold you win in the Windows Phone 7 version of the game to your full Xbox 360 Fable 3 game.

Two other games that have been big iPhone hits were also announced too, geoDefense, which will now be published by Microsoft and the popular Doodle Jump title from GameHouse. All of the games will support Xbox LIVE achievements and leaderboards.

Finally, the Halo Waypoint application for Windows Phone 7 has been updated today with additional features such as the new stat-tracking, which allows you to share your in-game stats on the web and compare against friends directly from your device. An update for Xbox LIVE Extras was also released earlier today although no new features were added.
