Microsoft announces new Xbox One S Gears of War 4 bundles; pre-orders open now from $299

In July, Microsoft launched a Limited Edition Gears of War 4 version of its 2TB Xbox One S. Today, the company announced two more bundles with smaller storage options, including a Special Edition variant that deviates from the usual white version of the console - although this isn't the first time we've seen the Xbox One S released with different color options.

The first of the new bundles will arrive in stores worldwide on October 11, the same day on which Gears of War 4 itself is released. The Xbox One S Gears of War 4 Bundle is priced at $349 and comes with 1TB of storage and a full download of the new game.

However, if you purchase the bundle from GameStop, Microsoft says that it will come with a physical copy of Gears of War 4, and warns that physical copies do not include Xbox Play Anywhere support. Those who get the digital copy with the bundle - or who choose to buy the standalone game as a digital copy, without the console - will get Xbox Play Anywhere support, allowing them to play the game both on the console and on Windows 10 PCs at no extra cost, with all game progress, Gamerscore, and Achievements saved and synced through Xbox Live.

Microsoft will also be offering the Xbox One S Gears of War 4 Special Edition Bundle from November 1, priced at $299 in the US. With this bundle, the console has just 500GB of storage, but comes in 'deep blue' with a matching controller, and will be sold only in the United States and Australia.

In the US, it will be available exclusively from Microsoft Stores or GameStop, while in Australia, it will be sold at Microsoft Stores and EB Games. Microsoft says that the Special Edition bundle will come with a physical copy of the game in the US (which means no Xbox Play Anywhere support), and a 'download token' for the game in Australia.

For a limited time, those who pre-order either of the new bundles, in any market, will "get the entire Xbox 360 Gears of War collection for Xbox One at no additional cost".

Gears fans can also get their hands on three limited edition controllers:
