Microsoft confirms recovery tool for Windows 10 for phones previewers

Microsoft has officially confirmed that a software recovery tool will be available for those joining the Windows 10 for phones preview program, so they can roll back their devices to Windows Phone 8.

As we reported previously Windows 10 for phones is expected to ship in preview form sometime this week. But seeing as it’s unfinished software most users might be better off staying away from the unstable version.

However, Gabriel Aul took to Twitter earlier to assure users that a software recovery tool will be available in case users run into too much trouble with the preview build.

This is great news for those looking to try out Microsoft’s upcoming OS as it makes the process of installing a preview build that much safer. As it currently stands the first preview wave is expected to hit select devices soon, but with it numerous bugs and issues may show up as well.

For those of you still not comfortable with rolling back software or losing phone data, we stress once again, you might want to stay away from the preview builds, at least for a while.
