If you’ve been surfing the web using the Microsoft Edge browser on your iPhone for quite some time now, chances are that you might have noticed your phone heating up during several browsing sessions. However, that is changing now with a fresh update being rolled out by Microsoft to its Edge browser for iOS.
The update packs a slew of battery life improvements and several bug fixes that are supposed to enhance the way the mobile browser works on your iPhone. That means the battery usage of Microsoft Edge is now improved to help save battery life for Apple's smartphone and extend its use.
In addition to the battery life improvements, it’s also more seamless to swipe left or right in order to switch between web pages. Other minor changes with the latest version of the mobile web browser for the iPhone include the addition of support for a number of actions like sharing sites, saving sites to Notes, and adding sites to Pocket, among others.
The update bumps up the software version for Microsoft Edge to 2.6 on the iPhone, though it should be noted that some issues with the desktop view still exist, with Microsoft stating that it is working to address the problem.
Microsoft recently moved to introduce Edge to iOS and Android last month, though the software giant also made it clear that those versions of the browser won’t come with the EdgeHTML engine.
