Earlier this month, Microsoft rolled out support for Siri Shortcuts on Edge for iOS to beta testers with the release of the app's version 42.6.1. Today, the software giant is officially making that feature available to everyone.
With the latest update, the web browser allows you to open the app from your phone's lock screen using Siri shortcuts. This feature was introduced with the release of iOS 12 in September. In addition, Edge for iOS also gets a bunch of new quick actions on the Apple App Store as listed in the full changelog below:
• Press and hold buttons in the bottom bar to see quick actions
• Open the browser directly from the lock screen with Siri shortcuts
• Use the browser widget on the Today screen to get to quick actions and top sites
• When you reopen Microsoft Edge, choose to continue where you left off or start afresh with a new tab
• Performance improvements
The new features are just among the few updates the browser has been receiving over the past couple of months including the visual search and more recently news alerts and book annotations in beta. The latest version of the app bumps up its version number to 42.6.3 and it is available to download now from the App Store.
