Microsoft improves Windows Hello stability with Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 updates

Microsoft has begun the rollout of its latest monthly updates for its flagship Windows 10 devices, the Surface Book and Surface Pro 4.

The May updates, details of which were posted on the company's Surface Update History site, are focused on the front and rear cameras, delivering 'Surface Camera drivers set (v30.10586.7035.1976, driver date 4/21/2016)', promising improvements to Windows Hello stability. The specific drivers include:

  • Intel Corporation driver update for Intel(R) AVStream Camera 2500
  • Intel Corporation driver update for Intel(R) Control Logic
  • Intel Corporation driver update for Intel(R) CSI2 Host Controller
  • Intel driver update for Intel(R) Imaging Signal Processor 2500
  • Intel Corporation driver update for Microsoft Camera Front
  • Intel Corporation driver update for Microsoft Camera Rear
  • Intel Corporation driver update for Microsoft IR Camera Front

Curiously, while these updates are detailed under the May rollout on Microsoft's site, the same updates - including an identical version number for the entire driver set - are also listed under the April update history.

Microsoft notes that the updates will, as ever, roll out 'in stages' to Surface Book and Pro 4 devices, so if they don't appear immediately for you, check Windows Update again later.
